Shane Ó Fearghail (pronounced O Fa-reel), is an Irish Singer-songwriter based in Vienna, Austria. Born in Dublin, he grew playing Irish music at home and abroad. Songwriting was the next creative step. His musical style is Irish Indie and Dark-Folk. In the past he has been likened to REM, Crowded House, Rufus Wainright III, Glen Hansard and Ron Sexsmith. He takes this as a big compliment.

A storyteller at heart, and comedian at times, Shane relishes playing live. The relationship between band and audience is key to that. It is community, or “common unity”, as he tells it. It is something learned from “family sessions” at home. Stories too are important. Ireland has always been a big part Shane’s story, his songs and tradition. And when talking to him, you get the feeling that Ireland is never too far away.
